Our story

A journey, an encounter, a revelation

It all started during an initiatory trip to French Polynesia. Amélie, founder of AméPearl, spent several weeks travelling through eleven islands through the Marquesas, the Tuamotu and the Society Islands, discovering the culture, the lagoons and the local know-how.

On the island of Fakarava, classified as a reserve by UNESCO, an encounter was to change everything: that of Mia Williams, a passionate Polynesian jeweler, guardian of the ancestral know-how of pearl farming.
From this encounter was born the idea of AméPearl.

By collaborating with Mia Williams, AméPearl is committed to preserving this Polynesian tradition, marrying it with a contemporary and poetic vision.

The history of Polynacre

The cultivation of pearl oysters to produce cultured pearls began in the 60s in Polynesia. The production sector has developed little by little in the Tuamotus. Mia's family, who live in Katiu, a small atoll in the Tuamotus, became oyster and pearl producers in 1986.

Mia has always been immersed in this culture of pearl farming.

Having a creative talent, she decided in 2005 to create a collection of jewelry made of Tahitian cultured pearls. Her talent was recognized in 2014 by the first prize for artisanal creation awarded by the Polynesia's fair for designers).

Since the beginning of 2025, the POLYNACRE company has been exhibiting its jewelry at the Fakarava market. This is where the creator of AméPearl brought this partnership project.
