Best practices

What to avoid :

  • Do not expose to harsh chemicals: Avoid contact with perfumes, hairsprays, cosmetics, lotions, sunscreens, or household cleaning products (ammonia, chlorine, vinegar, etc.). Always put on your pearls after applying your beauty products.

  • Do not wear during certain activities: Remove your pearl jewelry before showering, swimming (pool, sea), exercising, or any strenuous physical activity, as sweat and chlorinated water can damage the mother-of-pearl and weaken the silk thread.

  • Don't use harsh cleaning methods: Never use jewelry cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, or stiff brushes. These methods can scratch or damage the delicate surface of the pearl.

  • Do not scratch: Avoid wearing your pearls with other jewelry that could rub and scratch them. Pearls can be more fragile than other gemstones.

  • Do not expose to direct sunlight or extreme temperature changes: Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause the pearls to fade, and sudden changes in temperature can also affect them.

  • Don't store in any way: Don't store your pearls with jewelry of other materials (especially hard gemstones) that could scratch them. Avoid extremely dry or humid environments.

  • Do not let them air dry if they are wet by immersion: If your pearls get wet (cleaning, etc.), dry them thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing them. Do not let them dry completely if they are threaded on a silk thread, as this could weaken the thread.

Best practices to follow :

  • Wear last, remove first

  • Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove body oils and residue

  • Store separately in a soft cloth pouch or lined jewelry box

  • Clean occasionally with a damp cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap, then rinse with another damp cloth of clean water and dry thoroughly.
