FAQ

What makes Tahitian pearls so unique?

Tahitian pearls, also known as Polynesian pearls, are renowned for their natural reflections and unmistakable shades - from light gray to deep black, green, blue, or eggplant hues. They are grown in the preserved lagoons of French Polynesia, in the heart of an environment of exceptional purity. Each pearl is a creation of nature, shaped by time, sea and the expert hand of pearl farmers.

Where do the pearls sold by AméPearls come from?

Our pearls come exclusively from the local Polynacre pearl farm, located in the lagoons of French Polynesia and certified authentic. Polynacre complies with the standards of the Directorate of Marine Resources (DMR) and is committed to ethical and sustainable production, with respect for nature and traditions. We also work in collaboration with a local artist, holder of a professional card n°106/Fakarava issued by the DMR, a guarantee of know-how and Polynesian authenticity. Thus, each piece of AméPearls jewelry is the result of a human and artisanal partnership, deeply rooted in the culture of Fenua.

How are pearls graded?

Tahitian pearls are classified according to five main criteria: shape, surface, luster (shine), color and dimension. This classification determines their value, rarity, and brilliance. At AméPearls, only pearls that meet the quality standards A to Top Gemme, selected with high standards by our certified partners, are used.

We work hand in hand with our local artist to create a piece of jewelry that reflects your history, your sensitivity, and your connection to the ocean. The creation time is estimated to be between 1 and 2 months, due to the time required for the selection of the pearls, the artisanal design and the transport from French Polynesia — the other side of the world.
